This might sound kinda lame, but the only time I ever felt scared was playing the original Everquest, during the first 6-months when the magic was still real, and sneaking around in evil cities like the Dark Elf City.

my vote is for 7th guest as well. There were points where I literally avoided going into certain areas because I was scared (I also played late at night and with lights off to set the mood)

I take that back.. there was a game that came around around same time that had the same control scheme as 7th guest, but this freaking robot would chase you around while you tried to figure out what the hell was going on. I can not think of the name of that game for the life of me.

Both scared me, one for spooky and the other for fear

Okay, heres a weird one for you all. Not really SCARY persay, but more of a "i just dont like it when this happens and i dont know why..."

When the sandworms show up and eat your army in Dune (Sega genesis).

More of a scary one, is, much like what many others said...System Shock 2 by far. Nothing like hearing them try and hunt you down when you know you only REALLY have a couple shots in that pitiful gun of yours.

System Shock 2. Got the full version or demo around that time, freaked the hell out of me when hybrids snuck up. Thank god for foot steps these days.
