A friend of mine was killed yesterday. :(

I got a call yesterday about this. I'd known this person for a couple years as a friend and former colleague (I no longer live in Denver). Like the zoo and media, I won't name names, but suffice to say that she was a beautiful person, inside and out, and that this is a terribly tragic accident. She was very smart, and very skilled as a trainer. I can only imagine how confused and upset the staff there must be. This is a worst case scenario in everyway, as I've been on the LRT (Lethal Response Team) at the nearby Aquarium, which has tigers. It's exactly the type of scenario that one has nightmares about, and it's sad to see it come to reality.

They ran this story here in the UK, my condolences to her friends and family 🙁. I hope they dont destroy the animal, although tragic and brutal, it is its nature.

When the LRT tried to rescue her, it did turn on them and they had to put it down. There's really no other way, unfortunately.

It is a risk that you must accept when working with large wild animals, but a terrible tragedy none the less.

My deepest sympathies to her family and friends

Sorry to hear about your friend. I like big cats of all kinds. But any wild animal can be dangerous even thought this Jaguar most likely was raised in the zoo system. Jaguar

That's sad and I'm sorry, but why would the article and Zoo officials withhold her name? I'm sure her family is aware of what happened by now, not to mention I find it disrespectful to call her "the keeper" or to give condolences to "the keeper's family" and then say she was part of the Zoo's family too.

Cats are untrustworthy animals. If your housecat was big enough to eat you, it would. They don't make good pets since they are deceitful animals.
