UPDATE: I received some information today about my, um, friend.

1. He has been evicted from the apt complex.
2. It was a 16 year old girl he was communicating with in a chat room.
3. he was severely beaten in jail.
4. posters have been put up all over our apt complex

i think, also, it's just the fact that it's become a code among inmates, in a sense, that that's just what you do to someone who's in for a child molestation-type case, regardless of whether or not they have kids or were molested as kids.

I forgot to mention that he will be on the sexual offenders registry list once he is convicted. The conviction rate for this offense here is very high.

this is a far more recognized understanding of prison dynamics than child molesters/offenders, simply b/c the latter is so much rarer--and that as I understand it, child offenders tend to be shipped elsewhere--mental institutions?

Yeah, no way in hell a womanizing convict is going to accept a rapist in his territory. Rapist is already known to be incapable of getting his own woman. He is weak. He deserves and will accept death if confronted. etc...

but then we start debating the rationality of the criminal mind. so.....

Step 1 to recovery, throw him in jail where he gets severely beaten :/ - The prison system sucks hard. Probably not as bad as China though - At least he'll probably get out due to overcrowding.
