Turn off webwasher, if you have it and make sure your not in selective start up.

Get rid of ME and install 2000 or XP, for real, ME sucks the big one, nothing but trouble IMO.

But seriously--you might have to reinstall it. As everyone else has suggested--just about any other OS is better than ME.
