a fluorescent torchiere replacement?

I use a lot of those torchiere lamps around the house (the ones with a 200-500w halogen tube that bounces light off the ceiling at the top of a tall tube). the only problem is that they make a room very hot. first of all, are there any small fluorescent fixtures that would emit as much light as one of those halogens? if so, is there something like a torchiere that uses a fluorescent fixture?

i haven't found any lights to replace my old 300 and 500W halogen lamps. the new incandescents and flourescents 'claim' to be as bright but are nowhere near.

I bought some from Target pretty cheap, I think they were 8 bucks each. I got 150 Watt Flourescent bulbs in them. Work great!
