a firewire to usb adapter

i have a 2g ipod, which only has a firewire port. i have a firewire card for my desktop, but no firewire on my laptop. do they make a firewire to usb adapter (kind of like those usb to ps2 adapters)?
 
Firewire is was faster than USB, so you can't make an adapter simply because USB can't handle the speed.
