I could google these, but I'm curious... anyone on ATOT have some opinions, answers, questions of their own?

1) If you squash a bug, where does its existence go?
- I'm also curious about human life, but then we bring in the comforting ideal of an afterlife, so, just the bug for now.
2) Do thoughts have weight?
3) Is it possible to use up all of your brain's capacity?
4) Religion aside - What happens to conciousness at the moment of death?
5) Why do we (most) have dominant arms/legs/etc?
6) Do old men still grow beards?
7) What is it about the eyelid that causes rest?
- Why are we unable to sleep in pure darkness?
8) Which takes more effort?
- Keeping eyes open or eyes closed?
- Keeping an open hand or a fist?
- Loving or hating?
9) What decides the length of arm and leg hair?
10) What purpose to fingernails serve?
- Why not just skin?
11) Is the human body efficient?
- What would you do to make it more so?
12) Is there any food that provides the body with 100% nutrition?
- I.E. No waste products (feces, fat, sweat, etc)
13) What's it like to be a rock, tree, nail, inanimate object?
14) Considering we (most) come out the womb crying, is sadness/pain more *natural* than happiness/pleasure?
15) What's the end of the universe like?
16) What is nothing?
- What contains the nothingness?
- What contains the container of the nothingness (etc etc)
17) Generally how long does something have to take place to be considered normal?
18)

More to come.

1)It ceases to be,
2)no,
3)no,
4)you can't say "religion aside" because one's religion determines their answer to this,
5)No particular reason...you can "learn" to be ambidextrous,
6)Only the ones who don't shave,
7)it allows us to block out external stimuli, and protects the eye while you sleep. Who says we can't sleep in pure darkness?
8)Open, open, loving
9)genetics
10)allow you to flick marbles. If we just had skin there, it would hurt after a while.
11)pretty efficient, but not incredible. Eating right and exercising makes it more so.
12)not really
13)it's not "like" anything, you don't have any senses or conciousness
14)sure
15)read "the Restaurant at the End of the Universe"
16)you need more philosophy, but "nothing" is a word that gets adjusted depending on the situation (much like "empty")
17)5 years.

There is no scientific answer to this. Part of me likes the idea of reincarnation though. The cycling of life around the earth is an interesting concept.
2) Do thoughts have weight?
I don't think so, at least not any measurable amount.
3) Is it possible to use up all of your brain's capacity?
I'm not even sure the brain works in terms of capacity. I would imagine it wouldn't be possible to fill it up through any normal means. And its not like you'd get a disk error: disk full message or something. I'm talking out of my ass.
4) Religion aside - What happens to conciousness at the moment of death?
You sh|t your own pants. Religion is really the only answer to this.
5) Why do we (most) have dominant arms/legs/etc?
Because blood flow is uneven due to the way your arteries are setup or something. The side that gets more is dominant. Or something like that.
6) Do old men still grow beards?
Yeah, sure. I saw one yesterday.
7) What is it about the eyelid that causes rest?
- Why are we unable to sleep in pure darkness?
I don't think the eyelid causes rest, I think it just blocks out visual stimuli that would make it difficult to relax and sleep.
8) Which takes more effort?
- Keeping eyes open or eyes closed?
- Keeping an open hand or a fist?
- Loving or hating?
Since when you die your eyes stay open, but stay shut when pulled closed, I have no idea.

Let your hands go limp, that is their natural position as they developed in the womb. Anything outside of that would be more difficult. Its usually a partial fist, if thats any indication.

Thats different for each person I would think. I think hatred.
9) What decides the length of arm and leg hair?
Genetics and hormones.
10) What purpose to fingernails serve?
- Why not just skin?
They are an evolutionary holdover. But they do provide some protection to the ends of your fingers...and of course have tons of clutch uses that probably kept them from becoming useless over time.
11) Is the human body efficient?
- What would you do to make it more so?
The human body is efficent enough to assure the species survives.
12) Is there any food that provides the body with 100% nutrition?
- I.E. No waste products (feces, fat, sweat, etc)
No, you're asking about 100% efficancy which I don't think exists anywhere, much less in the clunky waterbags we represent.
13) What's it like to be a rock, tree, nail, inanimate object?
Assuming such things are self aware, it must be pure hell. They have no means of feeling and reacting to anything. A tree isn't really an inanimate object though, it is alive. I would imagine its boring.
14) Considering we (most) come out the womb crying, is sadness/pain more *natural* than happiness/pleasure?
Having your head squished through a tiny hole, breathing fvcked with and being removed from warmth that one is accustomed to will cause distress. I don't think its an indicator of any natural state of mind.
15) What's the end of the universe like?
I don't think there is one.
16) What is nothing?
- What contains the nothingness?
- What contains the container of the nothingness (etc etc)
Nothing is the absence of something.
17) Generally how long does something have to take place to be considered normal?
Depends who you ask.

1) Its gone, no more existence
2) Only for the person having that thought

4) Disappear, no life, no consciousness
5) Cause by both genes and environment
6) Yes
7) Eyelids closes to keep our eyes moist
- many people sleep in near total darkeness
8) - Closed

- Loving
9) Genes
10) Remnants from our distant reptilian ancestors
11) It is efficient for its original intended purpose
12) No
13) Woudn't know
14) No
15) Is there an end to the universe?
16) Sorry, I've already forgot the set theory
17) It's more about the percentage of people embracing that "thing" than the length of
time required

Babies (along with adults) do not cry solely because of pain. babies cry because thats the only way they know how to communicate.

Answer to # 11:

Babies cry because they have a devil in them. The only way to get it out is by spanking it into submission.

When I say "Why are we unable to sleep in pure darkness?" I mean why can't we just be in a completely dark place and have our eyes open in order to sleep? If the eyelid cuts off visual stimuli then isn't complete darkness doing the same?

When we're awake, we blink to keep our eyes moist

If you go to sleep with your eyes open, then when you wake up

your vision's probably a goner.
