A few things I hate about Steam.

I love steam, actually. I am notorious for losing CD keys and scratching up CDs/DVDs no matter how hard I try not to. Steam is a perfect solution and Ive never had a bit of trouble with it. I dont like having to run it in the background when I play a game, but that's the only drawback I see to it. I've spent a TON on games that without steam I probably wouldnt have.

Along the same lines, I had KOTOR 1 working on Vista 64, but it stopped working one day and I cannot get it working again (albeit, I didn't try hard...)
