I have somewhat of an understanding about both cooling techniques however I have a few questions for you experts out there...
Im going to be building a "big toy" for myself in the coming weeks and a main factor that I need to take into consideration is noise. I currently am running a T-Bird 1.2 with a massive copper heatsink/fan combo that sounds something like that of a 747 jet engine and it is completely unbearable. I tried using a lower rpm fan but my system kept crashing To give you an idea of my new system here goes:
1.6 P4(400FSB) or possibly 2.26(533FSB)
512MB XMS3200 DDR
40GB Boot Drive
120GB Storage
GeForce 4 Ti4200
Liteon DVD & CDRW Drives
I want a LianLi aluminum case but don't really want the massive PC70 that would hold the water cooling system so it can be all self contained. Can I realistically fit an adequate water cooling system (GPU,CPU,& Chipset) inside a PC60 or is that just wishful thinking? The system might be used as a LAN party case occasionally so I don't want the danger of water leakage if that even is a risk. If, in your opinion you think I would be better off with an air cooled PC60, then what heatsink/fan combo would you recommend? The system would be running 24/7 with an occasional reboot so I need it quiet but I don't want decreased reliability due to heat build up because it will double as an FTP server. Any suggestions guys? Ive considered the fan/rheobus combo but not sure if water is totally ruled out yet.
