A few short questions

I have some questions about getting around windows since i recently reinstalled. First off, my new system doesnt have enough pci slots to include my old sound blaster value, so I am wondering how I activate the onboard sound. Also, does anyone know where I can find a driver for a PCI IDE Hard Drive controller? Windows always says that it cant find a driver when it searches, and i dont remember the card coming with a driver cd when I bought it a while back. Thanks for any help

Check the manufacturer's website for drivers for both the onboard sound (as long as it is enabled in the BIOS) and the PCI card.

I managed to find and install the drivers for the IDE Card by going to the manufacturer's site (adaptec). I am still unaware as to how to activate the onbaord sound on my motherboard, the Chaintech VNF4 Zenith. I downloaded the drivers for the motherboard from Chaintech's site, but the drivers were the nForce 4 drivers and I don't think that they installed any sound drivers.

If the onboard sound is based on Realtek ALC850 like most NF4 boards then the nForce 4 standalone drivers should have it. Some motherboards like the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI use a different on-board sound chip like Creative 7.1 24-bit Live!.

Make sure your on-board audio is activated in the BIOS as well. The nForce 4 standalone drivers will install your sound driver if you keep that option checked.
