A few random Q's

Ok so I was putting my DVD drive, HD and Floppy into my new TT case and it got me thinking. These are random thought questions mind you. And take it into consideration that I'm still sorta new to this stuff, did my first build about a month ago and have been constantly upgrading since then.

1. When adding another HD, do you have to do anything other then plug it into the IDE & connect the power and set it on slave?

2. I bought some Antec Round Cables to help with airflow and I put my HD and DVD on the middle of the strand, is that the primary?

3. Someday I want to add a DVD burner, is the burner usually the master or is it the slave?

4. Also there's a little 4-prong thing that connects the DVD/CD Drive to the MB, I take it that will go on whichever drive is the master?

5. Same Q as #1 but with a DVD burner in mind.

6. Just saw the subject "Do you really need a floppy drive" and didn't want to hijack so here's my Q on that. I just got a TT Tsuanmi Dream case, awesome case loving it. But the HD rack sits right in front of the 120mm intake fan. Was seriously thinking of tossing the floppy and putting both my HD's on that rack and just taking out the HD rack completely. What are your thoughts on this? Good to do that or will it not hurt my airflow that much?

Thanks for all the responses, my first build went relatively smoothly except for the fact that I didn't know how to format the HD and that caused some issues. So I'm hoping that adding another HD is as easy as #1. Didn't think I could fill up a 100GB HD so dang fast!

#1 yes, assuming you're cabling it with the master
#2 not sure what you mean by middle of the strand, but it is not related to primary. Primary is set by the bios and motherboard connections, i.e., Primary IDE channel, and secondary IDE channel, and each can have a master and a slave. If you're setting your drives master/slave, then master would connect to the top most connector, and slave to the one next down on the cable.
#3 Depends on how many dives you have, but typically you set any burning device as the secondary master. Primary IDE, Hard drive 0 and 1 as master/slave. Secondary IDE main burning drive as master, and anything left over as slave.
#4 I have no idea, only thing i can think of is your mb has onboard audio, and all that's for is connecting the dvd/cd drive to the onboard audio.
#5 yes

You don't need to hook that up. I haven't used those in one of my systems for 4 or 5 years now. The audio travels the IDE cable.
