I am at Shanghai right now and I am trying to help my cousin fix her computer. It's not actually malfunctioning, its just that it needs a few drivers. She uses a 'Legend' brand computer (I guess they're something like Dell in China, except Dell is in China too), 2 years old, P4 1.7GHz, 256MB DDR. I've looked inside and it looks to be a Gigabyte mini-ATX mobo (with an AGP slot). So here are the problems:

- She said that she can no longer connect to the internet via her 56k modem (she doesn't have broadband, which would solve a lot of problems). I had a look, and it seems like Windows couldn't recognize the PCI modem, and didn't seem to have any stock drivers for something like it (which I find to be weird). Fair enough, so, I now am trying to get her some drivers. I cannot tell the exact name of the device, but, on the card itself, it is a:

Conexant RS56-PCI (on the chip)
BFV92R Rev 2.1 (on the PCB)

Anybody familiar with this device, or where I can get some drivers for it? I havn't tried Googling yet, but will after I make this post.

- She also wants to completely clear her hard drive. So, a reformat is in order. But, of course, as with many prebuilt computers, it comes with none of the drivers (or, at least, I don't know that it does, because all the CDs are in mandarin, which I cannot read, and she does not know what a driver is). Most of the devices are in order (it has a nVidia-made Geforce 2 MX; I've never seen an nVidia made card). But, the mobo is a big problem. On the mobo, it reads:

Gigabyte GA-87RML

On the device manager, it is apparently an 845 chipset. Question: Drivers?

Thanks a bunch for any help.

PS: Can anyone tell me what lsass.exe is for under windows/system32? It apparently serves no purpose other than to disconnect this company laptop (ASUS-made) from any dial-up connection.
