A few questions about WoW

I am a noob when it comes to MMORs but have played allt he warcraft and starcraft titles and like the story and graphics style but had a few questions for some of you MMOR veterans:

After once beta is over do they usually revamp the quests or will I have to start over doing the same quests?

do they keep adding quests as time goes on or is there and 'ending' to this game?

how do guilds work...what are they about how to you join etc.

what are instances, how do you join a raid..do you have to know people on there?

good questions, add these to the list

can you party or do co-op with friends if they are different races

how far into the game do you get to see people of different races

Same quests...try a different starting area if you'd like different starting content

No ending..keep adding

Nothing more than a group of people that want to be recognized as a group for whatever reason.
How to create one
what are instances, how do you join a raid..do you have to know people on there?
Instance info
You are invited into a raid, same as you are invited into a group.

They still have not announced if beta characters will be wiped or not. I for one hope they are...

If they are wiped, and you make a new character of the same race, you will likely be doing a lot of the same quests over again. You could play a different class to keep things more interesting.

Quests get added. Part of why you pay monthly is that new content gets added continually.

Instances are like seperate copies of certain zone, one for each party that enters it. They are usually tougher areas containing "Elite" quests with nice rewards.

GUILDS: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com.../basics/guildtab.shtml

Yes, if they are of a race that is in your faction. Human/Gnome/Night Elf/Dwarf party together and Orc/Tauren/Undead/Troll party together.

I've seen people of different races surprisingly early on. By level 10-15 you can travel around to the homelands of all the races of your faction, even at lvl 1 you could but you'd have to carefully avoid enemies and travel far on low cash.

I've heard that very little of the final release content is in the beta. However, I'm not sure if that is extended to relatively low level content. If I had to guess, I'd expect the low level quests to stay the same, but I wouldn't be suprised if they weren't.

Regular (usually monthly) content upgrades have become standard operating procedure in most MMOGs. I don't think Blizzard will disappoint here.

Instance is a dungeon that is limited to a single group. Every time a group enters a new "copy" of the dungeon is spawned. That way you don't have to worry about crowded dungeons when doing certain quests.

Here is another question, will the beta end right on November 23rd?

I'm guessing it will take at least a few days to transition to the new retail servers. I would expect the beta to end some time during the weekend preceeding the release (maybe even earlier). That's Nov 19-21 if you don't feel like looking it up.

Can someone also explain to me how PvP works? I play on a normal server, and I went on a raid tonight. We (horde) made our way to the Human area, but I couldn't attack some humans. They were trying to explain it to me but I wasn't sure if I got it. We can't attack them until they attack first, right? So, the offensive raiders can't attack unless the home turf defenders attack first? Then what, is everybody flagged PvP? It's confusing. =(

Also, what's the difference between PvP and normal servers?

On a normal (PvE) server, you cannot attack players of the opposite faction unless both you and your enemy go into PVP mode (to do this, type /pvp).

On a PvP server, you are always in PVP mode, and you can attack (and be attacked) by players of the opposite faction at any time.

"Flagging yourself" as PVP, simply means typing /pvp to go into PVP mode on a PvE server. If you are out of PVP combat, this flag wears off after a few minutes, so you may have to re-flag yourself during a raid.

Some exceptions to this rule on PvE servers are cities belonging to the opposite faction, and battle areas ("arenas") where you are automatically flagged as PVP when entering.

Also, if you buff/heal/help a player that is in pvp mode you will switch to pvp mode yourself.

It takes 5 minutes for the pvp mode to turn off on the pve servers
