A few questions about the X800XT...

Mrvile

Lifer
1. I know this has been asked several times, but which company makes the absolute best X800XT?

2. Are there any X800XTPE's that are AGP? The PE's are clocked a bit higher than the regulars I read.

3. If there are, where can I find them?

Thanks!

1) All the x800XTs are pretty much the same thing at this point. Brand is mostly who you feel most comfortable with. For me that would simply be "not Sapphire," but everyone has their favorite and non-favorite brands.
2) Yes
3) Try the end of the rainbow... x800XT PEs are still VERY rare. I suggest persistence at several vendors or eBay and lots and lots of money.

You'll find them next to the rap records that are actually music and near the PETA members who care about human lives.

😉

I only buy the "Built by ATI" cards as I just don't trust the side brands as much. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the Sapphire's, Gigabyte's, etc...it's just me. This past weekend I came up with the great idea to buy a new card, and by Monday I had an XT PE on it's way from bestbuy.com. I'd suggest checking bb.com and compusa.com every chance you get. They get them in stock frequently but don't last long, so if you aren't looking often you'll never know it.

Yeah I found a few at CompUSA's site.

Are you sure that ATI built cards exist? I thought that ATI didn't make cards, only the chipsets, which they sell to third parties to make the actual cards.

I think Sapphire makes the best ATI cards, IMHO. I got a Sapphire X800 Pro VIVO that I soft-modded to a Radeon X800 XT PE (520/560) and even overclocked it more to 557/625. Needless to say, I'm VERY happy with my kick-a$$ videocard, know what I'm sayin'?🙂

You're thinking of NVIDIA, who only manufactures chipsets. BBA "Built By ATI" cards do in fact exist.

Go into your local Best Buy and have them look up the X800 XT PE in their Customer Fulfillment system. They show up pretty frequently and stick around, 'cuz most people don't know they can order it there. IIRC the SKU is 6366602?
