A few questions about Outlook 2002

I upgraded here at work from outlook express to Outlook XP or Outlook 2002. It seems like a pain the the arse, but there are a few nagging things I can't figure out.

Qusetion 1. When I open up Outlook how can I get it to automatically check for e-mail? It won't do it unless I actually hit send/receive.

Question 2. When I receive a message that contains several pictures how can I get them to all show up like they would in Outlook express? Right now they just show up as icons and I have to click on each one individually. once again a pain the the arse that I can't seem to figure out.

Any help would be appreceiated. Thanks.

Answer 1:

In Outlook, goto:

Tools\Options\Mail Setup\Send/Recieve
and set "Schedule an automatic send/recieve every XX minutes" to how often
you would like to check for mail (0 min for always connected)

Answer 2:

Outlook XP does not allow for previewing Attachments in the Preview Pane
due to security settings. Pics can be imbedded in the message body though.

also, if you dont mind me asking this (hehe) how do you put someone in the address book, besides doing it manually ?

Thanks for the info LiLithTecH. Question 1 was easily solved, but I don't like the fact that when someone send me 10 pictures I can't just scroll through them like in OE. Clicking on each one is rediculus. I may go back to OE. It seems much more user friendly.

Toothpick. Sorry I can't answer your question. In OE you can just right click on the address and choose "Add to Address Book", but that doesn't seem to work in Outlook. Once again another reason to stick with OE.

Yup, that was to EZ, so Microsoft decided to make it kinda difficult...

Yah, pretty much the reasons why I really dislike Outlook 2002, Outlook 97 was much more intuitive, this is one MS program that has seriously gone in the wrong direction, say no to crack MS Outlook programmers 😉
