I'm having a few issues and maybe somebody can help me solve them or tell me I'm out of luck...

When I'm using it the screen will go into some sort of power saving dim mode automatically. I looked at the options and don't see anything. If I pick it up it's fairly bright but then it dims about 25% and I can't get it to go back to fully bright again. Kind of annoying more than anything. I can't say exactly when it does it, it might be 60 seconds on the dot I don't know. I tend to forget about it until it happens :) But it does it every time.

another thing, I don't have a memory card for it, and I don't want to pay T-Mobile for text messaging. I'm running Vista 64 and their crappy media manager doesn't work at all on Vista 64. Is there any way for me to get the pics I take with the camera onto my computer? I'd also like to add ring tones. When I plug it into my PC it doesn't come up as a device like my Motorola Q would. Maybe I'm just dumb but I looked in the options and don't see anything aside from a memory card option (doesn't help me here...)

last thing, when I plug it in to my PC the screen on it says the USB isn't providing sufficient power to charge the phone. I've tried the front and the rear USB ports, same thing. I have no problem charging my Motorola Q or any other device I have that can be charged VIA USB. This is annoying and I don't understand why.

The screen dims based on the lighting, not because of any kind of power saver settings. When I first got my Pearl, I remember there being discussion about it over at howardforums.com, and there wasn't a solution at that time for those who wanted it 100% bright 100% of the time. That was almost 2 years ago, though :).

1. Options >> Screen.Keyboard >> Automatic Dim

2. I dunno about your Pearl, but my 8800 and now my Bold both ask me if I want to put it in Mass Storage Mode when I plug it in. This gives me access to the memory. I am not sure that it works without a memory card, however. Found it: Options >> Memory >> Mass Storage Mode

3. What version of the desktop software are you running? Download a later version (4.6 would be my suggestion, 4.7 just came out and I dunno how good it is). Media Manager sucks so pick up the one without it rolled in.

thanks iamwiz82, but the software is useless to me if I can't use it to transfer files, without the media manager I can't seem to do anything except sync my calendar and contacts and stuff I don't want to do. As for #2 I think that only works if you have a memory card, without one it tell me "no mass storage device detected" I had messed with it a few days ago trying to get it so my PC could access it. Maybe the problem is Vista 64 I dunno. But I have the latest BB software installed.

I'd just buy a microSD card for a few bucks and call it good. Woot just had some for 2.50 each.
