A few questions about Leopard

So, I finally decided to get a MacBook. However, I still don't know if I should get it now or wait till Leopard comes out. I'll be travelling to the U.S. on May 6th and I was wondering if there was any chance Leopard would be out by then.

If not, how does OS X handle upgrades? Is it as unreliable as Windows?

Upgrades are simple. Haven't had a problem with them.

No idea when it'll be out though, I don't tell the future or work for Apple. 😛

First let me say that Windows is not unreliable. I think that most issues come from uninformed users and occasionally blatant idiocy, not the OS itself.

Second, Mac OS X is really easy to install and upgrade. Don't sweat it.

I was referring to operating system upgrades, not the operating system itself. I've performed a few Windows upgrades (2000 to XP, etc.) in the past and the've all sucked.

I'm waiting for lepoard. Simply because I have a feeling we will see hardware upgrades at the same time. And a few months isn't that long to wait to get better use of a few thousand bucks. If I thought the wait was more then 6 months however, I would probably just buy. You have to commit sometime or you will never buy it.

Upgrading OSX to a new version is much more akin to taking windows onto windows update. Going from 2k to XP would be more like going from OS9 to OSX imo. That said I'm sure it won't be difficult, although you'll have to pay a little extra.

Yes, updating from Tiger to Leopard should be easy.

Leopard's official release date is "Spring 2007" so expect it to come between April and June.

Sourceninja is right, except the Macbook most other Apple product lines should get updated during spring '07.

I've read that those delay rumors are not true. But you have to decide. I"m going to wait until June. If there is no release date announced by then, I'll probably just buy.

Link from apple? Because last I heard the Oct. rumor was a bad one and it's still on for the spring.
