A few noob questions before my first build

Okay...so all my parts should be arriving tomorrow and I need to clear up a few last things.

1.) I got a tube of Arctic Silver to use. I've currently got my X2 4200+ and on the heatsink, there is already some thermal paste stuff applied. Should I scrape that off before using the Arctic Silver, or just apply it on top?

2.) Should I run stability tests before or after installing XP? Does it matter either way?

3.) Help me understand "bootable ISO." How do I make one of these? i.e. for Memtest

1. Scrape the old stuff off, and then use isopropyl alcohol to clean the base of the heatsink before applying the AS5.
2. Don't try to overclock before installing XP! If you want, you can run memtest before installing XP though to see if you have bad RAM,but I usually don't bother unless XP fails to install properly or starts crashing randomly.
3. Nero, "Burn a disk image or saved project", then choose the .iso file off the memtest86 site.
