a few more simple win2k questions

1) I heard that Win2k is reluctant to let go of previously installed drivers when you try to upgrade. How do I install new drivers so that they actually install?

2) With the new LiveWare 3.0, do I also have to install the new LiveWare drivers?

3) At the moment I use detonator 5.22. Are the new detonators for Win2k (5.30 or 5.32?) definately better? And in relation to question #1, how do I install them properly?

thanks...

Sometimes I have had to go into the inf directory, and delete the inf related to the set of drivers that I am currently using and want to update. Win2K names them as OEM something.inf.

In respect to question 3 the 5.30's are very good. I got a nice FPS increase (without FSAA).

Firing squad (http://firingsquad.com) did a recent benchmarking against the 3 drivers you mentioned.

You install the drivers like usual, goto Device manager or Display Properties -> Adapter. Update drivers, select location, and point win2k to where you extracted the new drivers to.

2. Nope, just run the liveware setup and it will install the drivers for you. The separate drivers (on the website) are for people who want the drivers without the liveware programs.
