A few minor niggles with C&C Generals, any ideas on fixes?

Hi,
Why C&C Generals is limited to 1280x960 resolution. I have a TFT, so to get the sharpest picture i have to set it to 1280x1024.
Why cant i use the arrow keys to move the map around, like in previous C&C games?
Why is the bloody info bar so big? It takes up most of the screen.
