I was wondering if the new droid will be able to open create and edit word documents. Also will it be able to use gotomypc's pocketview application?

The Samsung Moment does it out of the box and it has Android 1.5. Having said that, Motorola has not done anything special with their Droid, it is stock. No extra features. Having said THAT, it has Android 2.0 out of the box and that is going to be a very capable operating system. Even if it doesnt support Word, Excel, and Powerpoint natively I know for a fact you can download apps to read Office documents and Adobe documents.

As for GoToMyPC, I dunno. I'd check with those people to see if someone has released an App for Android yet.

I believe it includes an office document viewer, not editor. However, the full version of Documents To Go is available on the Android Market, as you've found. It works well. Not familiar with pocketview.

Thank you. Does anyone also know of a usb-ethernet adapter for the droid. I ask because for certain networks my documents are on a NAS and is not accessible wirelessly.

Not yet, but as with all phones, if it turns out to be super popular there will be all kinds of goodies.

I do believe the HTC Android phones have one. The g1 and mytouch have their silly little mutant USB port but it does accept standard accessories.

In your guys opinion is it worth it to get the insurance offered by verizon. I never have before. a) because I never damaged my phone and was able to get another within a year through the warranty b)by the time the 1-yr warranty was up I was looking for a new phone.

For a nice phone I always get the insurance. This puppy is sturdy, being made of all metal, but its not immune to long drops, water, and nosey children.

Protect it, trust me. You do not want to have to pay for a new one at full price while in the middle of your two-years.

How do you access the storage card on the droid, to move data from PC to the droid?

Phones & laptops are the ONLY things I've EVER bought warranties for. And it's been worth it both times I've done it

Storage card is on the back, under the plate, and next to the battery. You can NOT remove the card unless you take the battery out.
I'll probably just use the included USB cable.
My only complaint with this phone so far is Motorola decided to use a mutant, basterd USB connector. So you will need to purchase special accessories instead of standard ones.

I thought it used micro USB, which is becoming the new standard? Palm Pre uses it too, as do some other devices (Kindle comes to mind).

Don't get me wrong, I have about a dozen mini USB chargers/cables so I'm annoyed too, but at least they went with a "standard", not like that retarded HTC mini-USB.

It's just a micro-usb, which will shortly replace all the mini-usb connectors out there.

You can easily get an adapter from places like monoprice.com to adapt a mini cord to a micro.

Which insurance would you choose the extended warrenty, asurion wireless phone protection, or total equipment coverage?

I did find this software which looks promising anyone try it before?

And for the gotomypc thing it wouldn't be possible to use the browser like on a computer to view it huh?

I work for citrix online and can tell you that we are expecting a release of GoToMyPC for most mobile devices by the first quarter of 2011. It is still in beta trials but is on time for release. A newsletter will be sent to our customers upon its release.

Currently the only mobile device supported is any windows mobile phone ver 5.0 and up. here are the specs----------V

GoToMyPC Pocket View requires a handheld device running one of the following:
• Microsoft Windows Phones running Window Mobile™ 6.5 Pro
• Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Classic and Pro
• Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone Edition
• Most devices running Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 or later with a touch screen or mouse
(such as thin clients)
• Internet Explorer, Pocket Internet Explorer, or equivalent Web browser
Note: Windows Mobile versions that lack a touchscreen are not supported. This includes Windows Mobile 6.0
Standard or newer and Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones.

The handheld device must have 1.6MB of available storage space and 8MB of available RAM.
The handheld device must also have an Internet connection with a recommended minimum average speed of 30 kbps (60 kbps or greater provides the best user experience).

The Internet connection may be provided in a number of ways:
-Cellular modem (built in on Phone Edition devices).
-WiFi (802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11a)
-Bluetooth (providing a data connection to a separate cellular phone/modem)

A standard mini plug will fit into the HTC mini usb port though
