I went out and replaced my A7V8X-X for a Gigabyte 7VAXP (KT400). In case anyone is interested, the A7V8X-X was bad. The performance was very low and absolutely no overclocking features. I could not set my RAM nor AGP voltage nor set the dividers. So went and bought this.

1. I am quite happy with this board. Now I have the option of going for a MSI nforce2 board. Is it worth the trouble. Would the dualDDR really help me coz I have a Gainward GF4 Ti4200 and will not be using the onboard video. Moreover it does not have RAID. Should I go for it. Will there be any real world difference.

2. I am new to this RAID stuff and need some help. Can I have RAID 0 with only one HDD. I have a Seagate Barracuda 80 GB. Will I get good performance with one drive. How much will the performance increase if I have two drives. Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to build arrays and stuff. The usual newbie stuff.

3. Any tips to get the best performance for this board. Any thing that you might know like WCPRSET settings etc. Please let me know.

4. I need some information on lapping my heatsink. I have a ThermalTake Volcano 9. It has a copper base inserted into aluminium (I think). The copper plate is slightly raised compared to the aluminium base. So now do I lap the copper part along or do I make the base completely smooth so that both of them are on the same level.

Oh I have one more thing to add. I am building a system with A7N8X Deluxe for my friend. Again can anyone point me to stuff on serial ATA. I am new to serial ATA and RAID so help would be appreciated.

1.)If you like the Gigabyte, keep it.
2.)RAID 0 needs 2 drives and is rarely worth the trouble.
3.)Can't help.
4.)Why do you want to lap copper?
