A Fan Controller That Doesn't Suck.

Can everyone give me a recommendation.

All the fan coolers I have looked at that have displays also show temperature.

Why would you need temperature probes? There are already ones on the CPU, the Motherboard, and the Hard Drive.

Also, you have to mount them to everything, which would make it pain if you have to switch out something.

Lamptron Does make a Fan Controller that shows only RPM and Voltages if you don't hook up the probes, but I honestly can't see spending $70 +Shipping on one.

I need a 6 Channel one. Although I have 4 fans now, I want to be able to use the controller in my next build that will have 6 fans.

Thanks

scythe is CRAP dont get any of there fan controllers..

They are nothing but crap, and have been crap, and still are crap.
I had so many fail, and i got them because of the BLING they had... but once again... its CRAP.

A good solid fan controller that is cheap is sunbeam rheobus series... there all solid.. uses great mosfet sinks to cool the Rheobuss, and there all built like tanks..

If you want bling, then look for the lamptron FC series v2... those are solid as well, much better made then SCYTHE.

Scythe needs to stick with FANS, and ditch there fan controllers.. because once again THEY SUCK HARDCORE!

You know it does not make sense why these companies put out crap.

No offense, but sunbeam is just another cheap china manufacturer who does put out some decent stuff, but not the best.

I really wish they made a fan controller with a screen that only showed rpm, but they don't.

The rheobus extreme looks cool, but the clear knobs look kinda cheesy.

I like this one the best.

If you like that best, go and get one?

I have a 4 channel Sunbeam Rheobus and I've had it in my systems for around 8 years now, still going strong, slightly scratched and I've dulled the LEDs a bit. It does the job and does it extremely well.

If you think that Sunbeam are 'just another cheap China manufacturer who doesn't put out the best stuff', I'd like to know who does.

Now... don't hold back; tell us how you realllllly feel about it. 😉

This is a good thread... I was fixing to start looking for a fan controller and you all have given me somewhere to go...

For the kind you want to use these are great. don't worry about 4 channel . Each channel can easily run 2 fans . the light color is determined by jumper selection very simple well built

I saw that one... that's sweet!

I really wish that was a 3.5 inch bay one. I saw it the other day and would have gotten it if it was.

I'm looking for a fan controller as well OP. I have decided on the Sunbeam rheostat one personally. Your other option OP is to get something that is internal and works through USB. Like this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/13...?tl=g47c17s285

People seem to like this one. I plan on picking one up for my new build in a 650D. It is the lamptron FC5-V2. It shows fan RPM and Volts...or temp if you want. You can also change the display color if you want

I love my Lamptron FC6. Looks classy, solid build, and easy to hook up. It does have probes though, but you don't have to hook them up. Do you really need 6 independent controls? You can hook multiple fans to the same channel as long as you do not exceed the rated power output. I've seen very few setups that need more than 4 channels.

My original sunbeam has been awesome. no frills fan controller. Love how i can turn the channel off if i don't need it . I have three of them all have been used for 5-6 years. I recommended it to a few friends around the same time. All of theirs are still goign strong too. Only downside is the LED are crazy bright. It can beam light onto a wall almost 15 feet away.

I've had a four channel Sunbeam Rheobus for 3 or 4 years now, at least, and it has served me well.

As others have said, the LEDs are insanely bright. That was a big problem for me, as my computer is right across from my bed. However, that was easily fixed with a couple of resistors. The back of the unit is wide open, and with a little bit of work you can get the resistors in place without worrying about potentially breaking anything.

If I remember correctly, Overclockers has a nice guide for it. A basic soldering kit may be required, but with some ingenuity (and a rarely moved system) I suppose you might be able to come up with a non-solder solution.

^ what do you think is sitting on top of my res? 🙂

My Scythe has lasted me 3 years now, no problems. Crap!

what have u been running on them? Weak fans??

I have used weak fans.. they work.. but they get INSANELY HOT..
I used a san ace on them... FRY'd the control.
I used even a Sythe Ultra Kaze 38mm... again FRY'd the controller.
I used 3 Weak fans on them... Again FRY'd the controller.
I used 2 weak fans on them... touched the rear side.. I burnt my finger.. NO im not kidding either... i really got a blister from burning my finger.

Scythe fan CONTROLLERS ARE FAIL!!! I WONT SUPPORT THEM, AND I WILL WARN EVERYONE ABOUT THEM.

If your going to use a SINGLE GT on it.. it will work, a GT is classed as a ultra low wattage fan.. if your going to use them for a real purpose controlling a combination of Fans or 1 high powered fan ... ITS A COMPLETE FAIL!!!!

Many thanks for the information 🙂.

I am sure that AIg wasn't tring to insult anyones choices. But for referance purpose . Look at your link than click on the pic that shows actual hardware . Than take a look at this one and its hardware . See any differance AIG pushes his fans controllers hard I would guess . But he has a point . For this controller to work properly you need to plug in 3 4 pin 12v connectors. I also was looking at the zalman you linked but ruled it out running 9 fans.
