How many different exams do you need to take to get your A+ certification? I just took my Comptia A+ essentials 220-601 exam (2007 edition) and passed it with a score of 780. On the sheet they printed up for me, it sayd I need to pass both required A+ exams to get my A+ certification. I was always under the impression, the A+ exam was just one big exam on hardware and software. Did Comptia revamp the A+ exam?

They revised it in 2006. You need to pass the 601 Essentials test and one other A+ test, the 602, 603, or the 604.

i think I'll take the A+ 602 technican test. I'll have to find some updated online A+ practice exams to take here.

That's how it was for me nearly that long ago. It was much harder then too as they were adaptive tests...and had dos! ;)

They took out the dos part literally months after I was certified and threw in xp :|

I believe the newer revisions cover the MS command line, but not specifically DOS. At least, the MS CMD is covered in my study books for the 601 and 602 exams.

For the elitist they are, but they still mean something with most entry level and lower computer positions.

they are good if you are still in college/high school and trying to get a entry level position.

if not then yeah they are useless.

I just started my career in the IT field, i'm computer service engineer. The company I work for requires that we have an A+ exam within our 90 days. I also have an assoicates degree in Computer Networking System. Once I past this 2nd exam, my company will pay for my exams and also give me an $2hr raise :D
