So I recently having some unusual symptoms it mainly happens while playing games, the game freezes and I can't continue and when that happens I face one of the two things below :

1- I get a BSOD so I force restart
2- The game freeze but I can close it through the task manager and I can explore windows normally BUT I get like some artifacts while using some programs and games etc ... and i have to restart also to get rid of these artifacts

Am I experiencing a dying GPU ?

My built
AMD Phenom II X4 965
ATI Radeon HD 5770 (40C idle , 70-80C while gaming)
8 GB RAM
GA-78LMT-S2P
Seasonic ECO 600W PSU

Examples of the BSOD I get

sounds like it could be your graphics card dying. my 5770 (blower) would load around 70-80C and idle around 45C.

Your motherboard has integrated graphics, so you can try using that. If it works fine it's probably your GPU. Try installing some new drivers or reinstalling your current ones, since it could be a driver issue.

If onboard also artifacts, you can try replacing the video cable.

If you have a lifetime warranty on your card (xfx and maybe some others?), you can RMA it and use onboard.

Could be a power supply that's on its way out as well. They can get flaky in their old age when they get warm.

I only get the artifacts while playing I tried to switch the cable from the HD 5770 to the integrated after having these artifacts but for some reason it doesn't allow me, I did updated the drivers to the latest version recently I will try to reinstall them again and hopefully that would fix the issue
and sadly my warranty ended :/

I bought the PSU like 6 months ago could it be the problem

Thanks for your replies

if you're planning on buying a new GPU, some current deals that might interest you (if you live in the US):

http://slickdeals.net/f/7940825-sap...r-free-shipping-newegg-com?v=1&src=SiteSearch
GPU length is 10.4"

zotac 760 for $150 + $2 Shipping

GPU length is 9.5"

The 280 is a safer choice for future gaming given it's 3GB
