Damn. The drive in movie is all but extinct in my area of Oregon. I can think of only 1 that still operates in the whole Metro Area. SUCK. I drive a 1966 Chevelle SS, with that big back seat, and damnit, there's no drive-in's left.

I dont want to hear the moans and the "oh god's" but I want to hear about peeps and the drive in's. Anyone have any around locally? Anyone cruze in the classics to them? Anyone ever get thier g/f's head stuck in some manor of fashion involving you and and the steering wheel? No? Perhaps that's just me ;)

We have a Drive-in here in Western Washington (Kent Auburn area)about 15 minutes from my house that the wife and I try to get to at least twice a Summer. I have a 71 Olds Cutlass with a bench front seat. I have yet to drive it down there in awhile as it runs a little hot and the lines are long and I don't want it to over heat waiting in line. :(

One of my old g/f's was a contortionist(sp) so she mannaged to keep her head free from the wheel. ;)

I miss the drive-in. There aren't any more here in Houston that I know of. The last time I went was back in '87 or so in my '66 Shelby GT350H, it was a first date and it was a lot of fun. Drive-ins aren't any fun in newer cars because most of them have consols....quite uncomfortable!!

still have a half dozen or so drive-ins in the bay area. there's one in san jose, another in santa cruz, and some others scattered around. unfortunately, i don't have a good car for drive-ins, and the drive-in in my home town closed down when i was around telve, so no action there either. i've never seen a drive-in movie. : (

Just another reason why growing up in the 60's & 70's was definitely better. ;)

We have three drive-ins left in the Columbus (OH) area, although one may be torn down next year due to development.

What a loss to the dating, loving and fun scene.
Last went in Kansas City and was a GREAT night.
Grew up in Pa and what a cheap, fun date. Wasnt so bad with other guys either for a little beer drinking and talk.

Best night, no, most memorable, seeing Grand Prix in my 66 Vette Roadster.

Just put in some new bucket seats in my '66 SS, beefed up the 454/365hp to 454/450hp! and am planning a cruze. Only one Drive-in left in the state [to my knowledge] and I'm headin there!

Refer to the "If the van is a knocking..." edit. replace van tho :)

454, b&m turbo 350, 55k mi... it runs great and i can't wait to dyno it then perhaps take it out to the track... i was looking for a 69 to play with (rally really like the body style), whereas the 70 kind of gives me the impression of a fly for some reason...hmm

We still have a drive-in here in Pocatello ID, it's no fun with bucket seats. You don't hear people write songs about driving a Toyota or a Honda to the levy either ;) Perhaps someone will write a song when the all drive-in die.

I kind of like the 70-71 with the split bumper. Is it a Z-28 convex?

Untamo, you ever take your 66 down the track? I bought some new TA drag radials a few months ago (as I have a serious traction problem) but never got to the track so I will probably have to wait for next spring. I'm hoping for some mid 12's.

It's a z28 with an LS-6 option(vette 454) from the factory instead of the standard 350 that comes in them...

here's what i could find on the engine-

CID Config Bore & Stroke BHP @ RPM Torque @ rpm Comp Carb.
LS-6 454 V-8 4.251 x 4.00 450 @ 4600 500 @ 3600 11.25:1 4V

It looks to be one of those economical cars, heh

Nice, does it have a 4 gear? nevermind, I see where you said you have a TH350. Sorry.

I guess I should clarify that a bit. :) Rear end gears? I would imagine it has 3:73 or 3:55. A set of 4:56s would be fun on the street.

Turbo 350 gears are 2:52 first, 1:52 second and 1:1 third, they are actually better then the turbo400 gear ratios.
