Does anyone else find this exceedingly annoying?

when you click a menu item (even from start/run) ,
the drop down box opens an incomplete window with a little ">>" at the bottom, so that you can expand it .
The ">>" usually opens one or two more options that you were actually looking for, and easily displayable in your fixed resolution, sans >>.

Open it all the way on the first click!

Any fixes, other than reinstallinnd W98/Office97?

 
You need to disable this in two different locations (yea, I know, it sucks, but oh well...):

For windows: right click on your task bar, choose properties, uncheck use personalized menus, click ok.

For office: right click menu or empty space near toolbar, customize..., options tab, check always show full menus, click ok.
