A friend was asking me to download a song for her (since her internet is down at the moment) so she could take the song and use it as a ring tone on her phone.

I'd be downloading the song from Napster, paying the .99 for it.
I think she just wants the song but I'm checking here to see if this is even possible first, before I download it ;)

I don't know the type or brand of her cellphone. Probably need this but again, I just want to know if it's possible before I proceed.

Thanks guys/gals.

Napster songs are protected if I'm not mistaken.

You could use the whole analog hole thing but that'd be beyond the scope of my two sentence answer - so the answer is probably no.

Songs that you buy to listen to have to be converted to Rintones. That depends on what phone you have and the format of the song to begin with.

Well most modern bluetooth enabled cellphones also support MP3 ringtones. What you want to do is download a program called "Audacity." Record, then play your protected song. Crop the file as an MP3 in mono 64kbs and send it over.

yeah if the phone supports mp3s, you'd have to reencode it off say a burned cd, then stick it on the phone.

thats what i do with my nokia 6230b.
