a discussion about sound cards....

Okay, I just came into a few of the Creative Labs Audigy2 NX external sound cards and was wondering if it'd be worth it for me to ditch my current Santa Cruz card over one of them?

the reason I'm asking is because I got them (the Audigy2 NXs) at a really good price and I'm selling them but I kind of want to try one of them out to see (actually to hear) if they'd be better than my Santa Cruz setup.

opinions on pros and cons will be appreciated.

Unless you have your sound system connected to a really good external home theater type sound system, my sense is that your ears will not hear enough difference. Technically, the Audigy 2 is more capable - but a sound system is only as good as the final transducers. Your ears will immediately pick up an upgrade in your speaker/amplifier chain.

well, I'm using the Creative GigaWorks S700 speakers which I really like over my old Klipsch 5.1 Ultras that died about four months after I bought them.

so would you think my Creative speakers would benefit from the Audigy2 NX?

any of them would be better than onboard he he he, im on the onboard and dont know what the difference would be. I only listen to music and watch movies off it
