A different topic than normal... if alien life did exist, do you think it more likely carbon-based or something else?

Pretty simple question really. Assuming for sake of argument that life does exist elsewhere, do you figure that life would be along the line of our own Earth-based model of carbon-based biology, or something else entirely? I'm not talking just about intelligent life mind you, but of course that's probably going to be the subject of most interest 🙂

What other forms of communication do you think that other life forms, carbon based or not, would use? Who can come up with the most creative suggestion? My thought would be, colors. Especially if they have a wider range of vision than we do, and far greater ability to differentiate between shades.
