A Different Number System

So I came up with this idea (honestly, while I was high) and thought, numbers to the left of the decimal are more than or equal to 1 while to the right are between 1 and 0. Well, why stop at one decimal? Number less than zero can sit to the right of that.

So, -50.6 could be ..6.50

and -x^2+x could be x..x^2

Complex numbers could be written and worked with more easily. I think...I'm not even sure about that.

And I'm definitely not sure about how math could be done with this and if it could actually EVER be more efficient but I think it's a cool system. With this everything is additive and...well I haven't really thought it through but maybe you can make something out of it?

Luckily I am not high while locking this! ;) - Moderator Rubycon

"I had this idea while I was high" != Highly technical, unless you are like Steven Hawkings (clearly not the case here). This is OT at best.

The foundations of math have not been shaken by this.

Let's take -50.6 + 12.3 in normal math.

NORMAL
-50.6 + 12.3 = -38.3

Now in your math

-50.6 = 6.50
6.50 + 12.3 = 18.8 = -8.18
OR
-50.6 - 3.12 = uh, I don't know how you'd do that in your system

The point is 18.8 does not equal -38.3, or -8.18

Your system does not work.

Er, this doesn't actually change "math," or how any operations would work. All you've done is make the notation ambiguous and confusing.

His way:
..50.6 + 12.3.. = 12.3.50.6

Quite terrible imo....
