Even if it's several days between listening sessions.

That's not really relevant since it should store the track state for each episode of every podcast. I'm going to re-look at Beyondpod. Any others of the many?

Using GoneMAD music player. More customizable than other players.
Haven't tried it with podcasts though

Every time this thread is bumped, I laugh again at the first post's (inadvertent?) use of "ipoop".

It's not inadvertent. I always call it ipoop.

I've been trying out poweramp. It seems alright. It does remember where its at, I'll give it that. 30 MB of data, a dozen apps, and three counties later, it still played right where I left off when I plugged it back into my car stereo.

But it has some odd quirks. For example, I'll turn off the equilizer because I tried setting the EQ to only apply to my podcasts (always in a specific folder). For regular music I want no EQ. But whenever the next song plays it turns the EQ back on. Also, it automatically starts playing when I plug in the headphone/ line cable. At first I was annoyed by that, but on second thought it does make sense. Why would I plug it in if I didnt want it to start playing?

Mombook isn't getting the same reception, if my infractions are anything to go by - perhaps too close to the bone. Oddly IMO the 'iPoop' is where I'd wish they'd screeched to a halt, as it was the only thing they put blond hair on and called it 'innovation' that I actually thought was worthwhile.

My equalizer for poweramp stays at whatever setting I choose (on or off) until I change it. Your next issue regarding start/stop can be changed in the settings.

PowerAmp is awesome, definitely recommend it.

I use Doggcatcher for podcasts. How does it compare to other options?

After using poweramp for 3 weeks, I've run into some trouble. After I come back from lunch, I usually leave my phone in my car. I just unplug the headphone jack and the music stops. But for two days in a row this week, I'd walk out to my car at the end of the day and find that it has been playing nonstop for approx 4-5 hours. ie it has been playing since lunch time. I'm not sure what is causing this, but needless to say I cant have that sort of thing happening.

someone explain why playerpro not mentioned once
I'm curious, what's your case for why it should be?

(I have nothing against PP. I bought it once on sale and have it installed on my devices. But somehow I just never use it because I haven't found anything about it that's all that compelling.)

I'd love to know if I'm missing something though.

PP's the only player I where I was able to do everything in 1. I'm not saying it does everything natively, but I can use it to accomplish what I'm after. When I sync my phone to my PC using iSyncr, PP's the only music app where when I rate a song in the app iSyncr will update the track rating in iTunes. Also it seems to be the only one that reliably will sync play count back to iSyncr so my iTunes can properly generate me a new smart playlist every morning. I've bought every music app I can find on the play store and downloaded all the free ones. PP plays perfectly with iSyncr, where none of the rest play with it at all.

None of that is useful for people who don't use iTunes, but it's the only music software I'll use on a PC. So having an Android music player that plays well with it is a huge plus.

Double check that the settings haven't changed. Under "headset/bluetooth" make sure the "pause on headset disconnect" is still enabled.

Also there's a "resume on bluetooth" option that I have disabled. If you have it enabled it could be connecting to your car or something before you shut everything off.

This is the main reason I uninstalled too. I use bluetooth regularly and after disconnect when I turned car off it would keep playing. I leave my phone in my pocket so I kept wondering why but pocket was making noise. I have those Bluetooth settings enabled. Other times I would be walking around and it would just randomly start playing. Wasn't the buttons getting pressed, I'd be standing up. No text messages received either.

There are a couple other things. I prefer the PlayerPro interface. It seeks to parts of *.ogg songs better. It skips less. Even with maximum buffer size and audio priority PowerAmp will regularly skip. The only things my phone is doing in the background are AndroidOS and AndroidSystem. I underclock the CPU during screen off to 652mhz, but that's absolutely no excuse. It takes less than 25mhz to decode 320kbps MP3.

I don't have any of those problems with PlayerPro

Interesting. I haven't had similar problems with PowerAmp, but I'll have to give PlayerPro a revisit on my next road trip. I like to mix it up now and try different apps.

I just use a little Sansa Fuze+ for music and radio at work and Rockbox.

Rockbox is great for little MP3 players, probably not so much for newer phones I imagine.

Was surprised it works so well on that little thing.

I doubt it would run VLC, but might have to look at it.

Used to VLC for video and switched to Pot Player a few years back on other rigs, but those aren't mobile I guess.

I've been enjoying MediaMonkey, but I might be partial as that's my computer's music player.
