I think those are hedgehogs. Hedgehogs are lazy, grouchy, and cute -- they're covered with whitish/beige spines but their spines aren't as vicious as porcupines. A friend of mine had one for a pet, and it never really quite being cute.

I think a lot of those are small; I'm used to them being a significant portion of my hand when the spines are down.
