In skirmish mode I am getting stomped by easy AI, even with a team mate on normal. No matter how fast I build or how high level my hero is they always seem to do ungodly damage to even a tauren chieftan with periapt of vitality and endurance aura 3. The undead seem to be especially powerful in this instance. What am I doing wrong playing as the orcs? Tips would be great.

Also, can anyone recommend some good skirmish maps/map packs to download? Again thanks for the help.

If you're getting outnumbered/outteched refine your build order (maybe watch a replay of the computer and copy). If they're sniping your hero micro them around so you aren't getting killed. Endurance aura doesn't affect hit points...

With a little practice you can easily romp the Easy AI. It might be that you're having a problem micro managing your units. In WC3, micro management is very important; you'll need to make sure each specific group of units is doing its job (i.e. crypt fiends are webbing, dryads are dispelling, spell stealers are.. stealing, sorcs are slowing, priests are healing, etc.). If you really want the key to beating the Easy AI, all you have to do is find out what mine its expanding to and destroy it. I've noticed that once the Easy AI loses its expansion mine, it fails to retake it/expand elsewhere and simply runs out of gold.

wow people still play wc3 tft normal game?

I still play wc3 tft, but only play custom games. You should get into DOTA (defense of the ancients). Damn fun!

Well theres probably a number of things you could do to improve. But get a build order down, and probably you should harass the computer (kill a few units early on and try to lure them to your base where you have a tower or something. I haven't played the computer in a long time because it not too difficult, your main problem is (probably) that you wait too long creeping and not harassing that at the end point it can just spam stuff from all its buildings and overwhelm you. Hit it early, or tech to something good like early bloodlust and hit as soon as you get it (make sure you have a decent army or it won't do much). I play this wayyy too much but you could go to battle.net or something and look at strategies and download replays too.

Like most people said, work on your build order

1. get a farm/ altar up as soon as the game starts
2. make sure you got 5 peons on gold and around 5 on wood
3. get another farm and barracks then start pumping out soldiers
4. As soon as you have 3 or 4 men start fighting creeps for exp, exp is vital early on.
5. if you're still having trouble you can give yourself a computer ally to help you out.

I got spoiled on Tides of Blood, a far superior map that came out before DOTA. It's the same style, but actually balanced and sensible (and a lot more fun for these reasons).

Unfortunately most WC3 players have never even heard of ToB and would rather play something retarded like DOTA... so I stopped playing all together :p

Ive been playing TFT since it was beta, and considered an offer to join a pro team for a while...

I can easily beat 2 insane computers on my own, and usually I can beat 3 at a time.

The computer players have a simple micro flaw. While you can choose to send a unit back to your base during battle, and heal him later, your computer opponent will pull that unit back for a second, then once you switch targets send the unit back into battle.

What this means is that early game you can hit them before they get unit advantage. Dont let them kill any of your units. If you are able to keep the pressure on, then your hero level will be high enough that it wont matter how many units they have.

There are plenty of pro replays you can download and take a look at.
Once you can beat a computer player, get online and try your hand at a live opponent.

Still my favorite game ever.

Are you comparing the current revision of dota to tides of blood?

I am trying all your suggestions. I just find it amazing that two easy AI can beat me and a Normal AI team mate. I'm not doing that much better, I still lose but my micro-ing is getting better.

It's ok, I play DotA all the time and I can't take on the AI in regular War3 either.

In my experience, regular war3 is a "you get it" or "you don't get it" game. I'm in the latter camp V_V

I started DotA in 6.32, about a year ago.

It's actually surprisingly well balanced now, around 6.5. Some heroes are much easier to "pick up and play" (Luna and Mirana come to mind), but just about anyone can dominate a game if played well, even against other "dominators".
