A couple video card related questions...

What is ansiotropic filtering? I have never messed with this, and I bet I am missing out. Does it simply improve visual quality? And is far less taxing than anti-aliasing?

Also, what is the average frame rate to where the eye can not distinguish any higher? In other words, what is the ideal frame rate per second that makes an application seem smooth?

Wheew. Thanks in advance...

AF will *enhance* your textures. Textures look more detailed than they actually are.

AA smooths the 3D environment and models. Makes them look more... real i guess.

Ideal framerate that makes application seem smooth? Personally anything less than 40 annoys me. The exception being GTA3, this is capped @ 30FPS but hey, the game play is nice and 30 doesn't seem so slow. In most other games I would complain about 30 FPS being too slow.

AA and AF are two different things. AA basically smooths out the jaggies in a picture. AF makes the picture sharper and less blurry. With frame rate, this differes from game to game and person to person. Some consider 30fps fine for most games, while others require 60+ for it to be satisfactory.
