A couple things...(voltages, heatsinks, and memory oh my!)

I have two 512 sticks of Samsung 2700 running at 2-3-2-6-1, but it simply won't do 2-2-2. If I jack up VDIMM, will that help? (I'm sorta new to this game, my last computer was a P2 400)
Also, what heatsinks are you guys using on an AXP. I have the retail one which actually doesn't do too bad, i had it running at 3000+ (their rating) with that one, oh forgot the Delta 38, but that thing is annoying. Anyways, I was looking at a Global Win CAK 2-36 I think it was, at Pixel USA, because they have it for $13, but they get you on the shipping, in the end it's about $20-23 (can't remember the exact figure) but that's still about $7 on average than every other place has it WITH shipping. Sorry, I was so long-winded. How is this HSF?
Thirdly, I have an AT7 max2 (Abit) and at HOCP, he couldn't get his above 172 FSB, but after taking the fan Abit puts on there, off and applying some Arctic Silver (they had nothing), I had it at 173, but it wasn't stable. If I get better memory, ie. some true PC3200, would it solve this problem, or at least help?
Thank you for all your feedback, I really appreciate it.

Ithink you mean the CAK 2 38. I have that cooler and it manages to tame my hot-as-hell Tbird at 1.53Ghz.

At that speed, the little b!tch is making a large amount of heat and the CAK 2 38 keeps her down to around 46c at full load. Case temp is 31c, so a 15c over ambient temp.

yeah that's the one. oh by the way, i have a xp 2500, suppose i should have mentioned that. what kind of clip does that come with? does it catch all the lugs or just the center ones? I read a review where it was an early one that only used the center, but GlobalWin promised to put a better clip on it.

probably best to keep your timings as they are rather than upping vdimm to accomplish better. simply because added vdimm lowers ram performance (decreased data transfer)

see i wasn't sure about that. i'd seen some debate somewhere about that, but no formal conclusion was ever reached. i think it turned into a flame war between supporters of upping vdimm and those against

about the HSF, i got the cak 38(older version), and im not to pleased with it. im looking at the sk-7 or slk-800.

as for the vdimm, i got mine at 2.6 with no probs. performance hasnt decreased at all. I can post some speed test if you like. just dont go above 2.7volts, i have hard bad things!!!!

here's my timing:

@146Mhz cas2 2-5-2 1T @ 2.6volts
128 crucial 2100 cas 2(or 2.5 not sure)
256 samsung 3200 cas 3
