A couple questions, one concerning Creative audigy2

Hey, I have sworn off Creative labs cards ever since i could, under so circumstances remove the disgusting crackling sound from my sb live. i tried 2 different cards and 3 different motheboards: a bx, a VIA (known for crackling) and now the sis735 chipset. all crackle. I am using onboard sound which works ok. (and now crackles a bit as of last week when I installed WinXp)... regardless. Does anyone know of any issues of the new boards causing sound problems or crackling noises. I would like to purchase one today but will not if i think it is going to produce crackling noises. I read previously the problem was due to the bandwith limitation of the pci bus. well right now I am runnning two WD1200 special edition raided on a pci and I imagine that would fill the bandwith a good deal.

Also does anyone know any good games that provide widescreen resolution?

thanks.

Right now I'm running an audigy platinum in both windows XP and 2000 with the latest drivers. The PCI bus has two ethernet cards which are both in use and a TV tuner card as well and the audigy platinum is performing admirably. No cracking or popping whatsoever and rock solid.

I read previously the problem was due to the bandwith limitation of the pci bus.

The live, especially the earlier live cards had a problem with the bus translator on the soundblaster. It had a big problem with PCI bus mastering and thus caused lockups and crackling sound. If you are experiencing crackling sound with your onboard after going to XP I would recommend checking both of your IDE channels to be sure that everything is working in DMA mode. Regardless, the busmastering issue with the live don't exist in the audigy.
