1) The exploit of the v3.03 client was easily fixable on Windows 2K & XP by entering the address for the S@H servers into the "Hosts" file. Can you do the same thing with Windows 98SE? If so, anyone know where it's located?
Or would connecting to one of the team Q's bypass the problem?

2) For a dedicated cruncher, would there be much of a difference between running Windows 95 or 98SE?

1. You can do the same thing with Win95 & 98, IIRC it the HOSTS file should be placed in the C:\Windows directory or somewhere under c:\Windows\System

2. I don't think there was much difference between the two. At least I haven't noticed a difference. You should however, see some improvement processing very low angle WUs in Win2K.

Thanks, i'll look around for it.

As for the OS thing, i may be able to get a few crunchers up & running & a guy i know said he has a few copies of Win95 i could have. Beats paying top dollar for an OS just to crunch SETI on. And i figured 95 wouldn't like VLAR's, just like 98 doesn't.
