A Couple of Questions Before Putting It Together

All my parts should be arriving soon, and I had a couple of questions before I put it all together.

Q1:
I got my NB heatsink(Extreme Spirt II) in the mail and I noticed that on top of the heatsink, it has two rods coming out of it and one of them looked damaged because it was smashed in on one side. I was concerned, but when I went to the manufacture site (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/...lide0019_image026.gif) in their pictures it actually shows this, so I guess that's how it was design, but why? Well that matter at all?

Q2:
I've been reading about lapping my CPU heatsink (Tuniq Tower 120) mainly from this post (http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=105586). It seems pretty easy to do, but are there any risk involved? Also would you recommend that I also lap my NB and SB heatsink, or is that not necessary?

Q3:
I just want to make sure I'm right about which grease to place where. I should use Arctic Silver 5 Thermal on the CPU and the NB and SB, and I should use Arctic Silver Ceramique on the mossfets right?

Thanks for the advice in advanced

So I went to a couple of hardware stores and I could find any of the right sandpaper. I've tired to find a specialty store, but it doesn't look like there's much around. So it looks like I won't be able to lapp my CPU HS. How much does it really matter to lapp it?

lapping can destroy your HS

Before you even consider it - make sure it is perfectly flat [use a new razor blade or flat glass to check it] - if it is, no lapping is necessary

a superfine grade for the final polishing should not be hard to find

as to your thermaltake link ... it goes no where :p

what cpu are you using? Unless you are using a quad you should not need to even consider lapping. I didn't do any lapping or anything else special on mine and have gotten as high as 3.704 at 1.64 vcore in bios for 1hr orthos stable + (didn't fail, just turned it off at that point) and then overnight on 2x seti@home with a max temp of 66c during all testing. If it is making any kind of decent contact and you apply the as5 correctly then you will probably get scared away by high vcore well before hitting your thermal limits. I actually run mine on low now that I'm at 3.59 with case fans on low, too.
