A couple of my favorite pics from my vacation

I took my family to Yellowstone for a weeks stay plus 3&1/2 days drive each way, I have hundreds of pics and I dont feel like messing with them all right now, I have some really nice shots of Mt Rushmore and Devils Tower, and lots more at Yellowstone, I will add some over the next week or so as I have time.

We drove our 1999 Expedition with 100k+ miles on it, it is a fabulous vehicle for this type of trip, even if it did burn $900.00 worth of gas in the 5500 mile drive :Q

Anyway, the first one is a shot of the highway in Nebraska on our way home, when we topped a rise you could see on average six miles to the next rise and then when you got there you could see again on to the next one, I took this while I was driving, 85mph, the average speed for these roads, so some of the distance got behind me before I got the pic, I measured a few of these valleys and you can see for six miles on most of them.............

And this one I am currently using as my wallpaper, it was shot at "The Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone"............................

Hi fuzzybabybunny! the camera served me well, these two arent the best of the pics I took but were a couple of my favorites.

Here is another one , resized but not compressed.

We were a little surprised to see this cruising around at 9000 ft

1504x1000 but 1.28mb http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/slacker.ATOT-pics/9000ft.jpg

Whoa! Not a bad car by any means.

How many pictures did you take in all? Did you shoot in RAW? If you're like me, you may have a few thousand photos to go through.

Boomer, you need a new camera.

A simple fix to your pic is adjusting the contrast. It'll create a more dept feel.

I took about 1000 pics, around 100 in raw and then I switched to jpeg.

I tried some post processing but it didnt seem to make the pics look better to me, while some of my pics are under exposed due to lighting the color and contrast adjustments seem to make them look overexposed and over saturated, it may be my screen though.

I need to sort through them all and pick a hundred or so to get prints of.

Lots of climbers in your pics boomer, there were only a few out the day we were there.

It looks like you did the same trip that we did, where did you start from?

Well, IIRC, all those were taken with my Nikon 5700, which is at Nikon for the CCD repair as we speak, but I doubt that is the problem of which you speak. Seems like everywhere we went, it was about to rain, or had just rained, and there were a lot of clouds, (rushmore pix) and/or a lot of haze (yellowstone). Just about everything I took was on automatic settings. I fvck up more playing with the settings than I get right...

Sorry, forgot to add to my earlier post...
OP, nice pic of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. I'm kind of "mobility limited", so some of the places I wanted to go, were just more than my aging body would let me. I got a couple looking down from above, but we got there late in the day, on our last day there:

Kahleeforneeya to western Wisconsin, then back home with a side trip up to Washington state. 6200 miles and 24 days. Like you, we drove our Expedition. Comfortable to drive, but hates to pass a gas station...We got home just before Labor Day. A lot of our trip was looking at property along the way, getting some ideas of where to move when we leave Kahleeforneeya in a couple of years...
