They are practically giving these away for free after rebates so it got me thinking about moving my second computer upstairs...

I looked at the support page and there is no official support for WinXP. I have broadband access to my main computer (WinXP) downstairs. I would like to use a second computer (Win98) upstairs using the HomeFree network mainly for internet access. First off, do both computers have to run the same OS? Secondly, will it even work in WinXP. (There are drivers for Win2000 so i think it should)

Also...to the people who are using this, are you satisfied with the product or do you recommend not bothering with this and wait for wireless. I'm on a very limited budget so I would like to try this until the wireless prices come down significantly. I know there are alot of disatisfied users of this product so if you could give me some specific problems you have had...

Thank you in advance for any help and/or comments...

no xp drivers. i am trying to get this stuff to work under 200 right now. no luck yet. i just realized that they did not give me a copy of wingate. unless tha default software they make u install in wingate. anyway... that default software does not work for 2000. i get an error when trying to install it... it reads something like "setup has not detected a windows 9x OS" wtf?! all the reviews i have seen says 2000 is support. this sucks man.

Are you refffering to HPNA 2.0? If so then there are drivers already in XP and ME. No Linux drivers that I know of though. If you have XP all you need to do is install the drivers for the card and use the XP cd to setup your 98 machine. There is some networking software on the XP cd for home networking with other flavors of windows. I like it for what I do with it.

Good luck with it.
