I went to pick up a copy of Serious Sam expecting to pay 19.99. Turns it Best Buy has it for 9.99, not too bad.

I also spotted the Guillemot Hercules 4500 vid cards marked at a clearance price of 69.00. They were the 32mb version, so I'm not sure if it's that good of a deal or not. Maybe someone could use one; they're supposed to be great cards for the price.

Everything I heard about the 4500 was great. Alot of the reviews said it was great card at a great price. I would heavily consider this in a system build for a family member or as a secondary (sometimes gaming) rig. :)

Doh! I was just at BB and didn't even look at any games. We need a break from playing UT here at work. I've heard Serious Sam's coop mode is pretty cool on a LAN. Maybe I'll have to drop back by there on the way home from work.

Actually if you run Win2K or Xp the 4500 has got major visual problems. Plus, with the new Nvida drivers even the GeForce 2MX 200 beats this card hands down in speed and I just picked up the GeForce for $29.00 at CompUSA last weekend, so you can do better than the 4500 for $69.00. Thanks for the info tho.

Kyro 2 works great in XP with the latest drivers, particularly for a $69.00 card. I'm not sure about the
errors you're talking about. My wife and I have identical systems, except that I run a Kyro 2
while she runs an MX200, and my machine easily outperforms hers.

I wouldn't recommend using the card on a < 500Mhz machine, but that's me. I've actually been thinking of
going with a Nvidia card as an upgrade, but all those threads about the infinite loop error have me
spooked.

Wow, this is an old post. i'm not sure if these deals are still available or not. Serious Sam is GREAT by the way, gamespot.com named it the #1 game for 2001! Not bad for $10...

Serious Sam is still $9.99 at BB. Just snagged a copy today. Been waiting for a decent title for cheap...
