I'm going to get a new case this week and want to get a new heatsink/fan.

Main interests are loudness, and how it looks. I'm trying to put together a pc that looks good threw the side window.

I know it's not the best at cooling from the reviews I've read. But, I'm really looking @ at the Cooler Master Jet 7. It definitely stands out next compaired to most other products.

my question is, what other types of heatsinks exist, ones that are more aimed at apperance then actually effectiveness. As long as my CPU doesn't burn up, I'm not too worried about temps. I don't OC too much, my case will be well ventilated, and I'm only planning on keeping my current CPU in for another 4-5 months anywho.

I was also looking at the Zalman, kinda different looking too. But I can't track down any others.

I'd suggest going for a good cooling heatsink rather than one that looks "cool"...

You could maybe mount a "cool" fan grill on top of a standard heatsink/fan to make it look "cool". ;)

The Zalman looks great inside my PC, not to mention its the quietest HSF made. Oh, it also cools my 3.6ghz 2.8C fine.

He is not worried about the good cooling, he just wants something that looks cool. I think that the Jet 7 is nice, if it wasn't because I heard that it is a loud cooler I would buy it for my rig.

I know, but I'm arguing that he should be worried about the heatsink actually being able to cool properly first, then worry about how it looks. I'd personally rather have a computer that works properly than one that overheats on hot days and crashes, even if it does look nice on my desk...

As jhurst mentioned, the Zalman heatsinks look very cool in my opinion. I have a Thermalright SLK-900a, and I think it looks cool just because of the massive size. People are always impressed when they see big shiny copper heatsinks.

The Jet 7+ just came out, it's all copper now. Doesn't do the best cooling, but this site was showing the temps @ about 55c load, my fan now (Cooler Master X-Dreamer) it's around 46, and it's very hot in the room I'm in. As long as the cpu doesn't fry I'm cool.

Sorta confused about the Jet 7, 2 of the reviews I've read have said it's whisper quite low RPM mode. 2 others said it was noisy even at the slow fan speed. If it's quite at low speeds, and could keep my XP 2000+ running around 55c at full load I'd be more then happy with it.

I'm going to find out if the Zalman can even fit on my MB, I lnow that one has some mounting issues on quite a a few boards. I have the MSI Nforce2 board, not sure the model #, but it's from the first batch, not the reversion, anyone know if this is okay?

Zalman's big thing that looks like a fvcked up cyborg flower (more so than their old "flower" cooler), or get a thermalright job and stick a flashy LED fan on - like a Bently with neons and fuffy dice, it's top quality all riced up. They even have a newish one with trendy heatpipes.

definatly the Zalman 7000A-Cu. its solid copper and has 200 fins which make it look like a beast when its installed. i have one on my fx53 which shows through my window side panel. looks killer and its functional. keeps my hot a$$ fx53 at 35c idle, and 45c load.

the Zalman isn't compatible with my board, so regardless how good it cools it's not an option for me, unless I want to get a new MB. And the MB I'm considering ordering doesn't support the Zalman either :)

I suppose I'll go with the Jet 7+ when I can find it, it's an all Copper version of the Jet 7, and is supposed to cool decently and quite at low fan speeds.
