“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies…
Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

If you would like to know the wise man that spoke these words, you can search
Congressional Record, S.2237-8, 3/16/06

I absolutely can not find any reason to disagree with him.

It's almost as interesting as this quote, from the same record:

Raising the debt limit is necessary to preserve the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government. We cannot as a Congress pass spending bills and tax bills and then refuse to pay our bills. Refusing to raise the debt limit is like refusing to pay your credit card bill--after you've used your credit card. The time to control the deficits and debt is when we are voting on the spending bills and the tax bills that create it. Raising the debt limit is about meeting the obligations we have already incurred.

Americans are still waiting. Of course we DID elect a senator with no leadership skills or experience to resolve this.

You mean like Obama's cabinet?

No.

I mean not paying for:

1) the 2001 & 2003 tax cuts;
2) two Wars;
3) the 70% increase in the DoD over the cost of 2 Wars;
4) Part D; i.e. The Big Pharma Give-A-Way;
5) 'No Child Left Behind'; and
6) 58,652 earmarks totaling in excess of $140 billion from 2001-2006.
