Warm at best, since 10/100 hubs and switches are so common and cheap now. I'd recommend spending the extra money for a 10/100 unmanaged switch.

the only good thing on it is the legacy 10base2 connector (BNC) for those of you who still need support for your (incredibly) slow networks

Since when did 10mb become SLOW? How fast is your Internet connection? Switches (even unmanaged type) are not THAT cheap, and this hub would be perfect for small home network. BTW, this hub is powered, so I'd say this deal is pretty hot. Thanks wmwtom and welcome to AT.

not bad... didn't know compaq made networking products, but it looks decent enough. this is not a router or even a switch, just a sharing hub, so if you had 8 computers, each could get max 10 MBit / 8 = 1.something bandwidth.

Since when did 10mb become SLOW?

Since people started having multiple computers and a need to move large files between them. (I've been thinking of upgrading my TiVo's NIC from a TiVoNET to a TurboNET...one hour to rip 2.2 GB of video is getting old.)
