It's been about 3 months since I cleaned everything out... in fact, I just installed my Mobile Barton about 3 months ago, so the heatsink at least was clean then. Today I noticed my idle temp was 52 C... no stability issues, but that's kinda warm for idle... so I cleaned everything out and now it's 44 degrees C idle. 2.4 GHz on 1.700 volts.

(that's the diode temp by the way... socket temps read 48 C before, and 40 C after)

The moral of the story... keep your PC clean. :D

Check out this Fire Hazard I cleaned out of a free PC that I got ... "It was crashing all the time and making a burning smell." So I popped open the PSU. :p

Mercenary you might want to rent THIS once soulkeeper gets done with it.

P.S. Isn't the name "MercenaryforHire" kinda redundant?

Hmm..I tend to use my step-dad's really huge air compressor. You can blow out some dust pretty well with about 80PSI at your disposal. Not to mention, you don't have to worry about that little freezing problem you would with the cans of air. ;)

You only get the freezing problem only when you turn the can upside down.

You need more than just the small anti-dust compressor, here is what you need: "The Dust-Buster"

hahaha
i live in southern california and have hard wood floors.
also i did wire a car vac to my computer and a shop vac just for giggles :)

yeah i've taken a compressor to the pc a few times and this seems to be the best bet :)

amazing that i would have to clean the system every 1 to 2 weeks if i left the side off the case :)

i live accross the streat from some softball feilds tho so the dust from that might also be getting involved :)

using water cooling seems to help the dust situation tho

Why do you leave the side of the case off? No airflow inside your case == hotspots

even with that , the dust clogs up at the filter, which reduces air flow if not cleaned after a while.
yes, but it is much easier and quicker to just clean/replace a filter rather then clean the entire compter.

i clean/replace mine once a month.

:)
