a cheque writting question

eakers

Lifer
I need to write a cheque in another currency (pounds) do i convert it to canadian money and write the cheque in that or can i just put pounds on it or what?

thanks.

k, sorry for my n00bness but i have never written a cheque before (i only use interac at stores and pay all my bills at the bank hehe)

Don't use a personal cheque.. the receipients bank will hold the cheque for up to 30 days.
If you go to the bank and get a certified cheque or money order they'll do the conversion for you.

I think you would need to figure out what the amount would be in Canadian dollars, then write the check in that amount.

The easiest way to do it would be with a credit card. You would be charged what the exchange rate is on the day you do the transaction.

You can't write the check in another currency.
If the company allows you to, you can do the conversion and just write it for the comperable amount in canadian.
Or you could get a US money order at a bank, I think a few do them in Canada.
