A Cheap Portable Video Camera?

Anyone know of any good video cameras...say...under 600 that is portable and records decent quality videos. Good Image quality to 800pixels or so?
 
What do you consider to be portable? Fits in a shirt or pants pocket, or fits in a woman's purse, or just light weight?

Do you have a preference for media type? DV tape, DVD, hard disk, etc?
 
Can't you pick up a Canon HD camcorder for $750-ish? Why not jump to full 1080p24?
 
The dimensions should be about the size of a hand, the weight doesn't matter at all.

Media type? Doesn't matter, do they make any good cameras that takes solid-state memory?
