I have a Lanparty nf4 ultra-d, this is ridiculous, but I'm planning on giving it to my father(he's in his mid 60's), doesn't even use the internet, haha, just types and uses a few productivity/office programs.

I hate the process of selling things(posting it on ebay, giving commision, then postage and handling, etc...bugs me). So that's why..if you're wondering, why I'd give such a beast/enthusiast board to someone who wouldn't even care/need it.

Anyways...I did my shopping around and it seems that the 3000+ venice can be had for $140 +/-. Anything else out there for socket 939 that's a better price? Heck, I mind as well get something that's known to overclock decent too since the board has the features..why not use it? heh..my dad will have the baddest type writer in town, lol.

But yeah, cheaper is better...

Yeah, I actually just had a talk with him, he kind of flipped out that I'm going to build him a new system, said that he's fine, but he's on a 400mhz PII, lol..(win xp runs fine on it, but some of his encyclopedia's and other programs run awfully slow, it annoys me to even watch it load) I think I'm going to wait actually...maybe... just because when AM2's come out, prices of s939's should go down, thus I could probably get it for half the price(754 sempron's are about $65)

I suppose this thread can be ignored now, haha...lesss anyone has any comments or speculations on the prices of CPU's.

on the flipside...i'll have the board sitting around for a several months doing nothing..=/

true, but still, what am I going to do with my board?... my father doesn't need a new comp perse*...but i'm saying he could use(italics) one.. and since I'm about to buy 1900XT(going to go crossfire), I don't want/need my DFI NF4 ultra-D anymore.

Post it on the FS/FT forums here for $80-90 if you want a fairly quick sell. Then all you would have to do is box it and ship it off.

You'd probably be better off looking for a usec CPU on ebay or posting in the sale/trade forum. There has to be some people with old 939 CPUs who have upgraded to X2s.
