I like these threads...its nice to know that even with the people who you totally disagree with theirs some common ground.

What I like about Bush:
1) I think he really believes in what he's doing, I think he's doing most things totally wrong, but I do believe he thinks its the right thing.
2) Tightening borders and airport security. We have far to go, but I'm glad something was done. I think real progress was made.
3) While I'm not sure he's gone about it the right way, he seems to want to curb lawsuits which I applaud.

Well he was forced to allow the mexican trucks, due to the US losing in aribitration with Mexico under our NAFTA agreement. The US lost in Feb 2001, less than a month after Bush took office, because of the ruling he signed a bill into law in Dec 2001 allowing mexican trucks enterence to the US. Rules were laid out in that bill, its NOT Bush's fault the rules arent followed. As for the second, I dont agree with it either, but I see it as a purely political move, in the fact that he and Karl Rove know it will never be passed.

1. Illegals
2. Marriage Amendment
3. Cheny, should have been Romney
4. Should have been more vague with reason for Iraq, WMD biting in ass now.

Four things that are not good IMHO.

Took me a really long time to think of something I like ;)

1.) Afghanistan. Overall, a well prosecuted and generally legitimate war.
2.) Tax cuts. As I've said, I'm becoming more and more fiscally conservative.
3.) Daughters. Hot and pretty wild too. Definitely a big improvement over Chelsea.
4.) Multi-ethnic administration. Always nice.

Leaning right.

What Bush sucks at:

1. Illegals.
2. Parts of the patriot act.
3. Marriage admendment. (is it really necessary)
4. Spending to much.
5. Not bashing the French enough.

the parts that allow shared information between bureaucracies allowing better law-enforcement;

finding out what books someone's checked out is beyond the pail.

This is the only thing I read of your rather lenghthy post that resembles something that bush actually
might have done.

If you are not a foreign national,
What personal freedom did you have before the patriot act, that no longer exists, or that is under assault?

The thing Bush did that I don't like is this.

I make 52k a year and have 4 children. I get more money back from irs than i pay in.

Makes me feel like entitlement taking Lib.:eek:

Flat tax on what? Income? What qualifies as income? What about exclusions?

How about items which present very daunting problems with valuation, characterization or timing such as dividends, rents, long term capital gains, secured loan agreements and foriegn investment?

Flat tax will never pass because it can't address these issues as elegant as 55,000 pages of code can.

as far as the AMT covers it's going to encompass almost everyone who pays income tax now. the only stages in taxes will be the limit on maximums for SS.

no idea, it's not MY plan it's bush's and the republican revolution's.

anonymity in checking out a book;
I'm afraid that books i check out will be taken wrong if i apply to work w/ the gov.

What I don't like about Bush:
1. His lack of a real heathcare plan. Every citizen, rich or poor, deserves adequate healthcare.
2. The environment should be a higher priority.
3. His spending has become outrageous for a "conservative."
4. He's not a good speaker.

I'm a fan of Bush because I really like the way he's handled the war on terror. In my opinion he's a very good president for the times we live in. I trust him to guide us through these turbuelent times. If times were different, I might not be such a fan of his because of the points listed above.

Is it just me, or this the the ONLY thread where we are seeing more conservatives than liberals?

I dislike lots of things bush does, but I'm too tired to mention them. Most have already been discussed.
